Discarded footage and self-censorship
The footage that was discarded from the film provides some very valuable information about the filmmaking process. Some of the portrayals had been left out because of the self-censorship of the filmmakers. For example, this old-timer from the Klaipėda Region isn’t in the film because he went on about his love to his country that no longer existed – the independent Lithuania. Statements like this were strictly forbidden and regarded as anti-Soviet, dangerous to the system.
